Biography

Laura Jo is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from North Longford whose music blends Irish traditional roots with contemporary folk, jazz, and Americana. She has toured in more than 40 countries and 40 U.S. states with ensembles including Biird, The Young Irelanders, Perfect Friction, Briste and Billow Wood, appearing at national festivals such as the All Together Now Festival and Electric Picnic before launching her solo career in 2022.

Her debut single “Places” introduced her as an emerging writer with a warm, distinctive sound, and her follow-up “Bright Eyes” won the Wildcard Public Vote in the Hot Press & IBI A New Local Hero competition at The Academy, helping her reach a national audience.

She has since shared stages with Roisin O, Mike McGoldrick, Dezi Donnelly, Tim Edey, Matt McGinn, NxNW, The Tumbling Paddies, Sharon Shannon, Declan O’Rourke and JigJam, while expanding her creative world through collaborations with Irish country star Johnny Brady, traditional icon Sharon Shannon and Eurovision-winning songwriter Charlie McGettigan.

The summer of 2025 marked a major step in her ascent, with performances at Galway Folk Festival, Fiddler’s Green International Festival, National Opera House and a sold-out appearance at Galway International Arts Festival, followed by a full-band performance at Forest Fest supporting Moxie and Stockton’s Wing. Her autumn tour included Monroe’s Live, Whelan’s, Kenny’s Lahinch, The Cobblestone and the Backstage Theatre.

A gifted performer on guitar, tenor banjo, mandolin and piano. Laura Jo has appeared across national broadcast platforms including RTÉ The Late Late Show, RTÉ Radio 1's Ray D'Arcy Show and TG4 Fleadh TV with further television performance on Geantraí and The Late Late Show airing in January 2026.

She is working on her debut album with Grammy-award winner Ron Block (Alison Krauss & Union Station) set for release in 2027.

“"Hasn't she got a wonderful voice! Laura Jo has a trad background but is moving on with her music in a new direction, which was well worth the listen"” - Lilian Smith

— RTE Radio 1

“"Longford singer Laura Jo is emerging as a really serious talent. She demonstrates her talent as a lyrist, her vocal range, acoustic guitar backing, and striped-back ethereal americano sound to her music."” - Ruth Keyes
