Biography
Laura Jo
Laura Jo is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from North Longford, Ireland whose music blends Irish traditional roots with contemporary folk, jazz, and Americana. After touring in over 40 countries and across 40 U.S. states with acclaimed groups such as Biird, The Young Irelanders, Perfect Friction, Briste and Billow Wood, she appeared on major national festival stages including All Together Now Festival and Electric Picnic before launching her solo career in 2022.
Laura Jo quickly established herself as one of Ireland’s most promising emerging artists. Her debut single “Places” appeared in 2022, followed by “Bright Eyes” in 2023, which won the Wildcard Public Vote in association with Hot Press & IBI “A New Local Hero” competition in The Academy Dublin bringing her music to a wider national audience.
In recent years she has shared stages with esteemed musicians including Roisin O, Sharon Shannon, Declan O’Rourke Matt McGinn, NxNW, The Tumbling Paddies, and JigJam, while continuing to expand her creative reach through collaborations with Irish country star Johnny Brady, traditional icon Sharon Shannon, and Eurovision-winning songwriter Charlie McGettigan.
The summer of 2025 marked a major step in her ascent, with performances at Galway Folk Festival, Fiddler’s Green International Festival, National Opera House in Wexford and Galway International Arts Festival, where she played to a sold-out audience.
She closed the season with a full-band performance at Forest Fest supporting Moxie and Stockton’s Wing before embarking on an Irish Autumn tour that brought her to Monroe’s Live, Whelan’s, Kenny’s Lahinch, The Cobblestone, and the Backstage Theatre in Longford.
A gifted performer on guitar, tenor banjo, mandolin and piano, her live work has taken her to major stages including TV performances on RTÉ’s The Late Late Show, TG4’s Fleadh TV and upcoming performances on TG4 Geantraí airing in January 2026.
Known for her warm vocals, lyrical honesty and subtle but powerful musicality, Laura Jo is steadily shaping a distinctive place within the contemporary Irish music scene. With new music, collaborations and festival appearances planned throughout 2026.
